Small Kaisa Grass and Ribbon Basket from Bangladesh.
Kaisa is a sturdy wild grass that grows along the riverbanks in Bangladesh. When kaisa grass is dried, it changes color from natural light green to tan. The dried kaisa grass is woven to make baskets.
This is a small kaisa grass basket. Each basket is hand woven by wrapping synthetic ribbon around a thick bunch of kaisa grass. Synthetic ribbon is carefully coiled to create a modern pattern. Small basket measures 9" in height and 9 1/2" in diameter. Also available in medium and large sizes. This is a handcrafted item, so products may vary slightly in color and craft.
These baskets are made by artisans in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
