Set of Three Black Iringa Baskets from Tanzania

Set of Three Black Iringa Baskets from Tanzania.

Iringa is a region in Tanzania known for baskets made from Milulu grass. Milulu grass is a reed like grass that is grown locally in the iringa region. Baskets are made by drying  and dying milulu grass. These baskets are woven from black milulu grass. Milulu grass baskets can be reshaped by wetting the basket and moulding to the desired shape.

This is a set of three baskets in small, medium and large size. These baskets have a solid black color and can be paired well with modern and minimal decor. Most grass baskets are woven from natural grass and color dyed grass, but these baskets are unique as they are made from only black colored grass. Small basket measures 10" in diameter and 11" height. Medium basket measures 12" in diameter and 12" height. Large basket measures 14" in diameter and 13" height.

These baskets are made by an artisan co-operative in rural Tanzania.
